the Calhoun-Gordon County Public Library, 100 N. Park Ave., resumed Noni Story Time for kids of all ages every Tuesday at 10:30 am Kids can sing, hear stories, and participate in crafts. All aspects of in-person programming are subject to change based on health crisis guidelines and procedures.

the Gordon County GOP will hold a meeting on Thursday August 12 at the Calhoun depot at 6:00 p.m. Derek Somerville will present his findings on the Fulton County postal ballot’s deep dive. The integrity of the elections and the last federal election will be the subject of discussion.

the Gordon County Children’s Advocacy Center, 189 Professional Court, Suite 200, will host a Ribbon Cutting and Open House, Thursday, August 12 at 10:30 a.m.

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 574 Pleasant Hill Road, Ranger, will host a revival from Sunday, August 15 at 6 p.m. until Wednesday, August 18 with weekday services starting at 7 p.m. There will be special speakers and singers each evening.

AdventHealth Gordon will host a diabetes education course on Tuesday, August 17 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Conference Room E. Designed to provide information and education to people with diabetes, participants will learn about diabetes management, exercise, prevention of long term complications, medications, diet, problem solving, coping and more. Free blood glucose monitors, diabetic-friendly foods, and other free samples will be available. Classes will be limited to 6 participants and one guest. Wearing a mask is compulsory on campus. the Harris Arts Center The Board of Directors invites the community to meet new CEO Miranda Bentley at a reception in her honor on Thursday, August 19, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the community hall on the second floor.

the Calhoun Women’s Club will host their 28th Sequoyah Ball on Saturday August 21 at 209 Wall Street. A silent auction and hors d’oeuvres will begin at 6:30 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by The Dexter Thomas Band featuring India Galyean, with proceeds going to the Voluntary Action Center. the Calhoun Recreation Department will host Bark in the Park on Saturday, August 28, with a walk starting at 9 a.m. at the bridge. This year’s event benefits the PAWS Angels and will feature contests, adoptions, vendors, and a free raffle.

Gordon County United Way will host its 28th annual Unity Run 5K on Tuesday, September 28. Register online at gordoncountyunitedway.org/unity-run. The price is $ 25 for adults, $ 15 for students ages 6 to 18, and free for children five and under. To be sure you have a running t-shirt and be timed for the race, you must register before September 3rd. Race day registration is $ 30 for everyone.

Calhoun city center hosts a farmers market outside the depot, 109 S. King St., Mondays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

by Calhoun Renis Barrett VFW Post 5376, 406 W. Line St., announced a Veterans Awareness Breakfast on the last Saturday of each month, 8 am to 10 am, in the event hall. Free breakfast is open to all local veterans.

Anglican Calhoun Scholarship strives to establish an Orthodox and Evangelical community of Anglicans or other like-minded Christians, interested in the Anglican way, committed to the authority of scripture and worship according to the book of common prayer.
