The Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has joined many Church of England worshipers and supporters in congratulating His Grace Bishop Emmanuel O. Chukwuma, Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Enugu and Bishop of the Diocese of Enugu, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion as he turns 68.

According to a statement from the organization signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Chief Alex Ogbonnua, Ohanaeze Ndigbo noted with immense satisfaction the zeal, firmness and commitment that Archbishop Chukwuma has often shown in all this concerning Igbo.

“His contributions to the Imeobi Ohanaeze and to various Ohaneze Special Committees are legendary. His exceptional application of ecclesiastical moral authority to reconcile the various Igbo interest groups is particularly admiring.

“Archbishop Chukwuma’s exemplary roles at Ohanaeze remind us of the prominence of Anioma characters such as Chief Denis Osadebey, Colonel Joe Achuzia and Ambassador Ralph Uwechue, all of blessed memories; and His Royal Majesty, Professor Chike Edozien, the Asagba of Asaba, among others

Ohanaeze has followed with keen interest and delight in Archbishop Chukwuma’s footsteps as chaplain to the former Archbishop of Nigeria, Bishop TO Olufisoye; First Bishop of the Missionary Diocese of Bauchi and Bishop of Enugu before his elevation as Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Enugu.

“As a charismatic agent of change, Chukwuma has built cathedrals, episcopal courts, created dioceses, planted churches, specialized hospitals, higher institutions, secondary and primary schools, etc. Above all, he cares of the needy and vulnerable with a priestly attitude. He is quintessential Igbo.

Perhaps the most admired of the Archbishop’s sterling qualities is the courage with which he speaks truth to power.

“The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ambassador Prof. George Obiozor wishes the Archbishop many more healthy years,” Ogbonnia said.
